                            Why do you need a professional installation ?

     Purchasing a new computer can be tricky and time consuming. It is easy to overlook, forget, or simply not realize that there is a lot of work and preparation required before you actually start using the new computer ~ especially on the internet.

     Most 'Brand name' computers are riddled with junk software and advertising rubbish that needs to be carefully removed to avoid being steered down the wrong path. Clicking aimlessless on the bundled 'trial' software programs and advertisments that are 'woven' into some new computers can not only cause problems but can create 'bad habits' for the computer users into the future.

     If you didn't deal with the right people when you purchased your new computer you may not even have the correct software installed to suit your purposes. Also, it is important to know which of your older programs and hardware devices such as printers and scanners etc will work with the newer version of Windows and which ones not to attempt to use.

     All new computers require 100s of megabytes of operating system and application updates and patches. All of which need to be identified and installed correctly.

     Connecting a new computer to the internet without proper security preparations will subject it to infections and corruptions in about 13 minutes.

2. Migrating all the data from your old system, including 'My Documents' folder contents

3. Installing a complete professional internet security system including Anti-Virus,
     Firewall, Spyware protection and Email filter ~ all with easy to follow printed
     documentation and training.

4. Installing your Internet account with ADSL Broadband, Wireless or Dialup

5. Installing all Service packs and program updates.

6. Installing printers, scanners, digital cameras etc.

7. Installing all newly purchased and previously owned programs

8. Custom tuning your computer system to suit your needs

9. Advising on a data backup plan & various strategies for keeping your data safe.

10. Finally ~ provide full tuition and training for any computer task you may need help
       and advice with.

Charges for new computer preparation & installations are $77 per hour inc GST

     Typically, professional computer installations take around 3 to 6 hours.

This is of course dependant on the complexity, amount of data and programs to be migrated from the older computer system. The condition of the older computer system. The availability of user account passwords (missing or forgotten passwords can cause hours of delays)   The various training session requests.   The availability of compatible device drivers for older peripherals ( such as printers and scanners ) not designed for Windows XP or Vista. The availability of licences and registrations for programs requested to be installed.

Issues not addressed in the initial installation because of delays created by the above or other reasons, can of course be completed on future callout visits. Also, some training requests are lengthy and may not suit the initial installation time frame.   Preliminary DVD production training for example is a 3 to 5 hour session alone and attempting to tackle this after an initial installation of 3 to 4 hours is too much for anyone to cope with in one day.
