   The primary purpose of a UPS is to protect your computer from damage when complete power loss to your home or office occurs.

   In some cases a computer will survive this shock but if you were accessing data or saving a file to the hard disk at the moment of a power cut, the hard disk drive and many other internal components may be severely damaged.
